The majority of web traffic is driven by the major search engines like Google, Yahoo! or Bing. Although social media and other types of traffic can route users to your website, the bulk of website traffic is driven by search engines. This statement is true regardless of your website’s purpose. A high authority site will rank much faster than you. If you are new in the business then remember that the big guns are already optimizing for the most popular keywords and you don’t stand a chance for those keywords. Hence, choose keywords that have a good search volume but, are still not that popular. Use them 2-3 times for every 100 words in your content. So in the post Penguin era, 5 or 6 links from relevant low PR but high DA sites are much better than 10-15 backlinks from irrelevant high PR and low DA sites.
Google's latest ranking algorithms simply ignore spam links
One of the recommendations I frequently give as an SEO consultant is to optimize your images. A lot of websites have images that are relatively large, which take a lot of time to load. Resizing your images can speed up the loading time. Search Console shows your
average position for each of the keywords you rank for and how many impressions and clicks this brings you. Strive to incorporate a small handful of links to authoritative sources throughout your copy. This communicates to your readers (and to Google’s algorithms) that your content, while unique, gives credit where it’s due. You can have spammy links from the past. Maybe you bought some, or maybe your SEO didn’t care too much about the quality of the links he built for you.
Improve engagement to improve rankings
Good link earning begins with quality content that provides value to your potential customers. While content that is poorly written and was only intended to get links will get a website penalized, great content that people want to read will naturally encourage those people to link to it. For sites “with just
a few things to mark up,” Google also offers a tool within Search Console that allows a site owner to quickly click-and-drag to apply structured data. There is no exact word count when we talk about the “long content.” There are studies showing 2,000+ word articles dominating the SERPs’ top for many competitive keywords. While there are a ton of great SEO companies out there providing valuable work and helping companies to reach new heights in terms of their exposure and profits, the unfortunate fact of the matter is that there are probably more not so great SEO companies.
Creating a Website on Your Domain
Seriously, what is worse than staring at a blank page waiting for it to load? The page speed is a huge ranking factor when it comes to search engines. Google’s latest update had a heavy focus on the user experience and site speed can undoubtedly affect this. This means that search engines look at page speed and provide ranking advantages to faster matches. Common sense, right? In the past, commenting on blogs and forums solely for the sake of building links was the norm. The reality, however, is that many blogs and forums have little or no link value. Therefore, building links via this method will do nothing to boosting your website’s ranking. Good SEO consultants are hard to locate and they are even harder to hire. This is because there aren’t a lot of high-quality SEO consultants available for hire. There are lots and lots of bad SEO consultants or young entrepreneurs who think they know SEO. Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant
, commented: "The key to a successful list post is no more complicated than including a large number of quality items."
Closed groups and group invites
Long tail keywords are essentially longer more specific keywords that tie in directly to your content. For example, if you are selling woman’s shoes on your eCommerce website. The main keywords would likely be: “ladies shoes”, “woman’s shoes”, “girls shoes” and other similar words. Although Google hasn’t officially
declared it, there is evidence to suggest that this search engine giant does reward sites with strong user engagement with higher page ranking. Set up keyword trackers, such as Google Alerts or Mention, to track every single post containing your keywords. All your citations (an online reference to your business including your NAP) need to be consistent, so as you start building them (see below), make sure that firstly, your NAP is correct, and the same (so Google & Bing can see the connection).
